Four Administration Police officers are to be arraigned in Kibera Court in Nairobi this morning for illegal possession of 5kg ivory.

This follows their arrest at Nairobi West last evening (Monday, February 29, 2016) as they attempted to sell the ivory.

The suspects, belonging to the ‘Security of Government Buildings’ Unit based at Uhuru Camp, Nairobi, included a government-owned vehicle, two corporals and two constables, namely:

1.      AP Constable Peter Kuria Kimungi attached to a former Cabinet minister’s security detail

2.       AP Constable Martin M. Marangu attached to a Principal Secretary.

3.       AP Corporal Francis K. Karanja attached to a Cabinet Secretary as a driver

4.      AP Corporal Stephen Chege Ngawai attached to a Principal Secretary Administration.

Kenya Wildlife Service continues to work with the National Police Service and other security agencies in dealing firmly and without prejudice with cases of any government officials involved in illegal activities.
