Kenya Wildlife Service Director General Brigadier (Rtd) John Waweru hosted a delegation of nine Chinese officials from the Asian country’s Department of Natural Protected Area Management on, June 20, 2019.
The delegation, led by Deputy Director General ,Ms. Meng Duangqin, sought to learn the best wildlife management and conservation practices, employed by KWS in conjunction with both local and international NGOs.

Hammond Northshore Regional Airport based in USA hosted Kenya Wildlife Service Airwing pilots for the special training of Gyrocopters for a total period of one month.
Seven pilots from KWS received specialized training in Hammond and got familiar with flying Gyrocopter which are intended to support wildlife management across the country.

Kenya Wildlife Service hosted the Grevy Zebra Conservation and Research Conference at its Headquarters in Nairobi.

Nairobi National Park got a pie of recognition on May 30, 2019 when the prime minister of Yemen, Ahmed Obeid bin Daghr made a game drive in the famous park.
Ahmed Obeid bin Daghr, who is attending the First Session of the United Nations-Human Settlement Programme (UN-Habitat) Assembly – the highest-level decision-making body on sustainable urbanization and human settlements, had a chance to sample Kenya’s aesthetic wildlife in the park.

Kenya Wildlife Service Air wing will be sending seven pilots and five engineers for Gyrocopter training to the US and Germany respectively from May 31, 2019 for two weeks training.

Kenya Wildlife Service Director General Brigadier (Rtd) John Waweru has unveiled a set of new houses to the rangers attached to the Rhino Unit at the Ngong station.
Eight (8) units of 2 bedroom each were distributed to eight rangers to improve their welfare.
The Rhino Unit benefited from the Ranger Housing Program in which KWS received Ksh.100million with a carry-over of additional Ksh. 32 million in FY 2017/18 for construction of ranger houses.

Three orphaned elephant calves have been successfully translocated to a holding facility in Sera Wildlife Conservancy, Samburu County, a first such re-wilding initiative for a community managed wildlife facility. The rescued calves are doing well in what experts term as ‘soft release’ even as close monitoring continues ahead of the final release to the ‘real wild’.
