ELEPHANTS MOVED OUT OF NGULIA RHINO SANCTUARY

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) capture team is currently removing some elephant bulls from Ngulia rhino sanctuary in Tsavo West National park that have been identified as notorious for damaging the sanctuary infrastructure, including water and storage facilities.

They are also a threat to rhino monitoring teams in the sanctuary, and the removal is intended to mitigate these problems.

Plans to destock the sanctuary of more elephants are underway to mitigate negative impacts on the sanctuary ecology and maintain the integrity of the habitat required for viable black rhino population.
