Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has reviewed her parks and reserves entry fees downwards starting November 1, 2016. Thus all entry fees to KWS managed National Parks and Reserves have been capped at USD 60 for adult non residents and Ksh.860 for adult Kenyan citizens.

The move follows Kenya government’s decision to exempt entry fees to National Parks and Reserves from Value Added Tax (VAT), which has now been ratified following the assent of Finance Act, 2016.

Consequently park entry and other services fees at the facilities have been reduced to reflect the 16% VAT exemption.VAT was previously factored in all entry fees and other services offered in the parks and reserves managed by KWS.

This move is expected to make KWS parks and reserves competitive in the region and globally, thus attracting a bigger number of both domestic and international tourists. KWS is glad to report that visitation to her parks and reserves has increased tremendously in the recent past.

In the spirit of giving incentives to the travel trade and to ensure tourism growth in local, regional and international markets, KWS has in the past two years reduced her conservation park entry charges substantively. For instance entry fees into premium parks (  Nakuru and Amboseli National Parks ) has over this period been reduces from USD 90 to the current USD 60, Wilderness Parks ( Tsavo East , Tsavo West & Meru National Park) from USD 75 to USD 52.

Game viewing constitutes the highest component of Kenya’s tourism attractions, thus making significant contribution to the country’s tourism industry.

The conservation fees paid for parks entry goes towards the protection of the country’s heritage. KWS is keen on opening up the lesser visited parks which we consider the untapped hidden gems and thus urges travel lovers to consider the Western, Northern and Marine parks in their holiday bucket list. The parks offer a myriad of adventure activities and unforgettable experiences.
