Mombasa Marine National Park & Reserve
Synonymous with sun, sand, beautiful warm weather and a vibrant town life, Mombasa is one of the great coastal destinations that wanderlust leads most visitors that love the beach to. While in Mombasa, Mombasa Marine National Park is a great find. Her alluring beauty illuminated by the coral reefs coupled with crystal clear ocean waters and marine life will capture you like a magnet.
By Road: From Nairobi, Mombasa is about 487 KM. The park can be reached by road from Mombasa CBD, and then connected by boat from the various points along the beach which include: Serena Gate on the beach of Serena Hotel, Severin Gate on the beach of Severin Hotel, Travellers Gate on the beach of Travellers Hotel, Nyali Gate at Mombasa Marine Park Headquarters and Voyager Gate at Voyager water sport Area.
By Air: From JKIA or Wilson Airport to Moi International Airport
By Rail: Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) from Syokimau (Nairobi Terminus) to Miritini (Mombasa Terminus) train stations.

Vehicle Charges Per Day
These range from Ksh. 300 to Ksh. 5,000 depending on vehicle seat capacity normally from less than 6 seats to 45 seats and above.
Boat Charges per day
Boats are managed by the community and private diving schools. Boat charges are charged separately from the park entry fee.
What to take with you
Camera, binoculars, sunscreen, insect repellant, first aid kit, sunglasses, drinking water and appropriate beach wear.

Rules
• Check local weather and sea conditions before taking into the waters.
• Do not damage or remove the corals; These are living organisms that take years to form and are host to many rare and endangered species.
• Do not remove shells or any other sea flora and fauna.
• Do not buy shells and other marine life products as souvenirs as this encourages further destruction of sea products.
• Do not dispose litter on the beach or in the sea. This is illegal and environmentally unfriendly.
• Hand feeding fish is illegal as it disrupts their normal feeding patterns.
The coral life is rich with different varieties/ species; Acropora, Turbinaria and Porites. Other marine life include; crabs, sea urchins, jelly fish, snappers, groupers, surgeonfish and sweetlips. Sea grasses and marine algae life is also present. The birdlife consists of a variety of seabirds in large nesting colonies and internationally significant numbers of crab plovers and roseate tern. Visitors can enjoy are jet skiing, boat rides, sailing and windsurfing. For the water magic lovers, snorkelers and divers, the marine park is a great destination.
Mombasa Marine is surrounded by beautiful and breathtaking beaches. These include; Nyali, Shanzu, Bamburi and Kenyatta Public beaches.
Other unique and historic sites around the marine park include; Jumba la Mtwana, Fort Jesus, Haller Park and Shree Jain Temple among others.
