Kenya on May 7, 2021 launched its first ever National Wildlife Census covering both land and Aquatic wildlife.
The two month exercise is fully funded by the Government of Kenya and will be executed by the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, Kenya Wildlife Service and the newly created Wildlife Research &Training Institute.

Kenya Wildlife Service’ (KWS) rhino conservation efforts received a major boost with the launch of two ‘Dignity houses’ presented to the Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, Najib Balala at KWS headquarters Monday, March 8, 2021.
The attractive container houses were funded by Maniago Safaris Ltd in collaboration with The Luigi Footprints Foundation and Stand Up, Shout Out (SUSO).

The eighth World Wildlife Day was commemorated March 3, 2021, at Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park off Shimoni, Kwale County, pursuant to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution of 20th December, 2013, which proclaimed 3 March as UN World Wildlife Day.
The day was presided over by the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife IG (Rtd.) Joseph Boinnet. The celebrations were held in tandem with the launch of an ambitious Economic Stimulus Program.

One more Rothschild’s giraffe has been rescued from Longicharo Island, on Lake Baringo, to the mainland, as rising water levels continue to shrink the size of the island, threatening the survival of animals. This is the 3rd after two other giraffes were rescued in December 2020, and other smaller wildlife species before that.
